a Mic in Hand began in 2003 as the brainchild of Sydney comedians Kent Valentine and Sam Bowring, as a way of providing up-and-coming comedians with a friendly and supportive environment to hone their craft. a Mic in Hand @ The Friend in Hand Hotel (the Sydney venue) has always been, and still remains one the most sought after comedy venues in Australia for both comedians and punters alike. a Mic in Hand is the best place to see the superstars of tomorrow. In 2007 the company was handed to Daniel Moore and Liam Nesbitt, with whom it remains today. a Mic in Hand @ The Friend in Hand Hotel is not only a hot spot for comedians on the rise, it also plays host to some of the worlds most recognised comedians from time to time, such as Daniel Kitson, Danny Bhoy, Arj Barker, Ross Noble, Wil Anderson, Mark Watson, Sam Simmons and many, MANY more! In 2008, a Mic in Hand expanded to Melbourne where it set up camp at Vibe Bar on October 16, launching with the likes of Rove McManus, Daniel Moore, Tommy Dassalo and a host of Melbourne's finest comedians. Liam Nesbitt currently presides over the Sydney venue with the assistance of Wayne Dixon while Daniel Moore operates the Melbourne venue with the help of Tommy Dassalo. a Mic in Hand aims to provide audiences in Sydney and Melbourne with the best comedians from week to week at the bargain basement price of only $10 ($8 students). a Mic in Hand @ The Friend In Hand (click here for map) occurs each Thursday at 8pm.
