Laura produces a playful and starkly honest brand of comedy that is equal parts manic and marvelous.
She won the WA Raw Comedy state final 2008 and was one quarter of the 2009 Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s ‘Comedy Zone’, a handpicked showcase of the best up and coming talent in the country.
Laura recently supported Laurence Leung at the Perth leg of his Australian tour and she is making more and more noise with each outing.
Among her fans is renowned comedy genius, Daniel Kitson, who went as far as listing her in his ‘must see’ list for her recent run at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
“Sharp and keenly observant”
– Herald Sun 2011
“Laura squeezes ideas like old toothpaste tubes, each surprising extra dollop more satisfying than the next.”
– Chortle AUS/NZ 2010.
“She served up a mixture of cute scenarios and killer gags. The imagination and the craft is evident.”
– Chortle UK
Brisbane-born Sydney labourer Luke Heggie began stand up 2010, and after 4 gigs he won the National RAW Comedy Competition.
He’s an efficient comic: no ostentation, no smoke and mirrors; visual, physical and verbal understatement ensue – followed by much laughter, of course. In 2012, he was nominated for the Best Newcomer Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and was then awarded Time Out’s “Best Comedy” Award for his shows at the Sydney Comedy Festival.
You will be hearing a lot more from Luke Heggie as he has one of the most efficient words-to-laughs ratio of any comic around.
“Sharp, sardonic and understated.”
